Minute
When writing a poem in under a minute –
One hopes to make clear the symbolism within it.
The verse may lack in all but jest.
The structure, heroic couplet, not the best.
“Composition grand, execution short,”
Poetry professors would breathless retort.
Verse, like this, you should not bend.
The minute is up, this poem must end.

Well I said I would submit something new and I did. Also, its a poem! I haven't written one of these in hmmm, three years? Anyway I was studying the poems of Emily Dickinson and had a sudden spark of inspiration. So instead of studying for my final I wrote this. I don't know if any other poetry is forthcoming but I am glad I finally did something creative after a LONG layoff.
P.S. I did not actually write this poem in a minute... P.P.S I also know this is not actually in heroic couplets but I mean there is only SO much I can do... |
